Veteran Fundraiser Dwight Clasby Takes the Helm
The CCD Foundation board of directors has announced that Dwight Clasby has been named as its new executive director. A veteran fundraiser with major gift experience, foundation and alumni relations, Clasby brings years of non-profit and education experience to the Foundation.
“The CCD Foundation’s relationships with its donors — both new and established — are at the core of our service to the college and community. Dwight understands what motivates individuals, companies, and foundations to support an institution and has a proven track record of exceeding fundraising goals,” said Everette Freeman, CCD president. “Dwight’s role is central to our work, and I am pleased CCD was able to attract a professional with his knowledge, creativity, and experience to advance the Foundation’s mission.”
Previously, Clasby held senior management positions with educational institutions in Connecticut, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas. He served as vice president for external affairs at Communities Foundation of Texas, and managed the major gift operations, foundation relations, planned giving and research for The University of Texas (UT) at Dallas where he led a successful 200 million dollar Realize the Vision campaign that raised over 273.3 million dollars. His experience also includes alumni relations for the University of Miami, Coral Gables, and serving as assistant vice chancellor for advancement at the University of Colorado Boulder.
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Miami, and began his career as a teacher before working as a private banker in Dallas. A decade later, he returned to education as a development director and is credited with key initiatives that secured expanded funding for endowment, increased support for annual fund, and capital campaigns.
As the key liaison between the CCD Foundation, its donors, and the community, Clasby will focus on understanding each donor’s charitable objective and creating relationships with new donors. He will direct all internal and external communication in order to enhance public awareness of the Foundation and its role within the community.
