As a teenager, Jamie Ridener was giving such exceptional care by nurses that she is know studying at CCD to become one herself. The Kaiser Foundation Scholarship is helping her to pay the way for her education and easing her financial burden.
Three Denver area community leaders were honored at CCD’s Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leadership Awards event on Tuesday, January 19th. Additionally, the CCD Foundation awarded two named MLK scholarships to five students.

Boundless Opportunity Scholarships help highly-motivated students achieve their goals by providing the means for a better education, as well as a better life for themselves and their families. Stacie Amaya, a single mom with three children and a CCD paralegal student, is a recipient of the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship. “CCD has meant a lot to me. I came here at such a dark time in my life and CCD was the exact thing I needed at the right time. It gave me a positive outlook on my future and turned the hope switch back on," said Amaya. "Receiving the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship was a great boost in keeping my education on track.” Read more.
On February 25th, the CCD Alumni Association with support from the CCD Foundation, proudly awarded its first Alumni Scholarship to accounting student Handrajannie “Jenny” Tanojo. Jenny’s $500 Alumni Scholarship was funded by CCD graduates who joined the Alumni Association at the “purple” or “gold” levels with donations of $20 or $30. Jenny was selected from qualifying applicants by Alumni Association members based on the monumental odds she overcame and hard work she puts in to be a high-achieving student at CCD. Her 4.0 GPA is a clear indication of her determination and self-described “spirit to compete.” Read more of Jenny's story.
The CCD Foundation has launched the Open Door Scholarship Fund and committed $45,000 in scholarship funding for the 2015-2016 academic year for CCD undocumented and DACA/ASSET students. The goal of the program is to provide these students with scholarships that will help them achieve their college goals. “We know that education is the key to a better future for the student and to a stronger Denver economy,” said Francie Anhut, Executive Director, CCD Foundation.
